Don’t know Hindi, says BJP councillor

At a time when a statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on using Hindi instead of English is creating ripples in southern states, Uma Anandhan, BJP councillor from ward 134, announced in the city council that she does not know the Hindi language. While speaking on budget announcements, Uma expressed that she could only talk in Tamil and English, claiming that she lacks fluency in Tamil. To this, DMK councillors replied that they are okay unless she doesn’t speak Hindi. “I don’t know Hindi,” she immediately responded before continuing her speech.
