CHENNAI: Amid alliance speculations after Prime Minister Modi's TN visit on Friday, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam chief Premalatha Vijayakant on Saturday stated that they are yet to make their choice, and even the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is yet to finalise its constituents.

Speaking to reporters at the city airport, Premalatha stated that there was no undue delay in the alliance announcement and emphasised that the political situation remains fluid. "The NDA is not finalised yet. Talks are still on, and more parties are likely to join. Anything can change at any time. Anyone can go to any alliance," she said.

She also shot down reports suggesting intense behind-the-scenes negotiations and said, "There is no secrecy in this. When an alliance is finalised, it will be done transparently, and I will inform you first," adding that no senior leaders have met her so far.

She added that the Election Commission was yet to announce the poll schedule and that there was ample time for deliberation. "Have the election dates been announced? Have candidates or constituencies been finalised? There is still time. The media is more eager than anyone else," she remarked, noting that the election notification was expected only after February 20.

She also elaborated that the fourth phase of her election tour will continue till February 3, starting in Thoothukudi and covering constituencies from Kanniyakumari to Virudhunagar.

"DMDK will take a clear and good decision to ensure what is best for the people of Tamil Nadu." She added that the State would see a new government after the elections, which would deliver good governance and work for the welfare of all.

The DMDK general secretary also noted that the party was like her child, "As a mother, I have a greater responsibility and duty. I know when and how to make the right decision for my child. At the appropriate time, we will form an alliance that everyone will appreciate."
