Investigations revealed that Ravi, who has a license to lift sand from the local quarry for a period of three years, was allegedly harassed by Viji. The deputy tahsildar had demanded a monthly bribe to permit Ravi to lift the sand from the quarry. The DVAC team laid a trap and asked the complainant to pay a sum of Rs 5,000 as bribe to Viji, who was then arrested. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was filed against the deputy tahsildar. She has been remanded in judicial custody.
