CHENGALPATTU: Tension prevailed at Anjur village in Chengalpattu on Friday when a defence water tanker fell into the Anjur lake injuring two defence personnel. The injured men have reportedly claimed that the quality of the newly laid roads were poor, which was the main cause of the accident.

Three defence personnel working at the shooting range in Hanumanthapuram had gone to Anjur to load drinking water in a water tanker. While they were returning to the shooting range, the vehicle lost control and fell into the Anjur lake. "Passersby who witnessed the accident immediately rushed to their aid and sent them to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital," police said.

The injured personnel, however, have raised concerns about the quality of roads near the lake that were laid barely a month ago. Following this, the residents of the area have requested for the road quality to be rechecked in order to avoid accidents in the future.
