Death toll goes up in Tiruchy, Madurai

An 8-year-old boy from Pudukkottai district died due to dengue fever at Tiruchy GH on Saturday.

It is said, D Anbu, a Class 3 student from Kothamangalam village in Alangudi taluk in Pudukkottai was suffering from fever for the past one week. He was taken to the Primary Health Care centers in Kothamangalam and Keeramangalam. 

Since, the fever did not subside Anbu’s parents took him to the Pudukkotai Government Hospital where he was diagnosed positive for dengue. Soon, he was rushed to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial GH, Tiruchy, two days ago and was undergoing  treatment. However, he succumbed on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, in Madurai, 10-year-old girl Sandhya from Palani in Dindigul district who was admitted to the Madurai GRH on Wednesday died on Friday night. Similarly, Ponnuthai (20) from Sivaganga and Pavendan (5) from Nilakottai in Dindigul district died on Saturday.
