Cuddalore jail bans visitors to meet Savukku Shankar

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court sentenced Shankar to six months of simple imprisonment for his 'corruption' remarks against the judiciary.

CHENNAI: The administration of Cuddalore Central Jail has banned visitors from visiting Savukku Shankar in Jail for a month from today.

The Jail Department had allowed visitors to visit Savukku Shankar on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The move has now been taken as 25 visitors visited Shankar in the 4 days since his imprisonment, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court sentenced Shankar to six months of simple imprisonment for his 'corruption' remarks against the judiciary.

Due to administrative reasons and threats, he was transferred from Madurai Jail to Cuddalore Jail.
