CHENNAI: CPM and CPI state secretaries K Balakrishnan and R Mutharasan on Sunday congratulated Chief Minister MK Stalin on his re-election as DMK president for the second time.

In a statement, CPM secretary Balakrishnan said that in DMK, Stalin worked effectively in various roles such as a party member, branch secretary, of the party.

“Stalin fought against sectarianism in Tamil Nadu, united the secular parties and defeated the BJP in the Assembly and Parliamentary elections in the State. Even today, he continues to raise his voice against the central government's anti-people policies such as usurping of the State's rights, opposing the NEET exam, and opposing the Electricity Amendment Act.”

“The CPM congratulate Stalin, who has been actively working to protect secularism and religious harmony, and has been vocal against the communal activities of the BJP government at the centre, ” he said.

CPI state secretary Mutharasan said that in his half-century of public life, Stalin emerged as the party’s commander after going through various ups and downs. “Now, he has emerged as a national leader by developing his multifaceted skills,” he said.
