Alleging that there is “Zero reservation to OBCs” in admission to UG and PG courses conducted by the National Law universities, Baalu, in his letter to the minister, copy of which was circulated to the media by the party high command, said the Central Educational Institutions (Reservations in Admission) Act 2006 and UGC guidelines mandates that universities to implement 27% reservation to OBCs both in admissions and recruitment, but, in law universities, it has been ignored despite instructions to the vice-chancellors to comply with the guidelines. Stating that non-implementation of OBC reservation has put the OBC students to great disadvantage as they were not able to enter into the top-notch law universities, Baalu requested the HRD minister to intervene and direct UGC and VCs of NLUs to implement 27% reservation for OBC students for all the All India Seats as well as the State prescribed domicile reservation for admission in the 2020-21 academic year.
