CHENNAI: The Election Commission of India has said that all new voters in Tamil Nadu will receive redesigned and colourful Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) with new numbers at no cost once the final electoral roll is published on February 17, 2026.

As of December 28, around 7.28 lakh Form 6 applications for inclusion in the voter list have been submitted across the state. Nearly 5.58 lakh of these were received during the special camps held on December 27 and 28 at about 75,000 polling booths. Officials said applications filled as per the format prescribed by the Commission would be accepted and names would be included in the roll.

Meanwhile, EC has identified around 12 lakh unmapped voters in Tamil Nadu. Notices are being issued to them through Booth Level Officers under the Special Intensive Revision process. Those who receive notices must produce proof of citizenship or documents confirming blood relationship as per the 2002 guidelines.

Citizens have been advised to report to their polling booths on the dates specified in the notices. The notice phase, hearings, verification, and processing of claims and objections will be carried out from December 19 to February 10 before the final roll is released.
