Collector’s strict warning on minor marriage

The District Collector S Divyadarshini on Wednesday said that cases would be slapped against the parents who force their children to undergo child marriages and would be sentenced to two years of imprisonment.

Participating in child marriages eradication and awareness programme at Narasingapuram near Walajapet, she said that surveys revealed that most of the women who die during deliveries were victims of child marriage. She also added that over five child marriages were stopped in past 5 days at Ranipet.
