COIMBATORE: Gold chains snatched from women in trains

The Erode railway police have registered cases in both incidents, and further inquiries are under way.

COIMBATORE: Unidentified persons snatched a total of six sovereigns of gold chains from two women in separate incidents in different trains near Erode.

Police said Ramadevi (52) from Telangana was bound to her hometown by Ernakulam-Bilaspur Express train when an unidentified person snatched away her four sovereign gold chains and jumped out of the train near Erode junction on Wednesday afternoon.

In a similar incident, Jaya (48) from Kumbakonam, was travelling by the Chemmozhi Express from Coimbatore to Mannargudi when an unidentified person snatched away her two sovereigns of a gold chain while she was asleep and jumped out of the moving train.

The Erode railway police have registered cases in both incidents, and further inquiries are under way.
