Interacting with reporters after distributing relief materials to flood-hit in Thideer Nagar, Duraimurugan faulted the desilting works carried out by the government as most desilted tanks filled up so fast due to a single cyclone. This was because desilting did not result in a deepening of the tanks with only the shore being strengthened. But, the government true to its form of telling lies continued to state that all tanks were desilted, he added.

Referring to the Agaram River, he said, he as a member of the Assembly public accounts committee had asked the then Collector to remove encroachments from the river’s banks, but this was never done.

He urged the state to send the details of compensation needed immediately to Union Minister Amit Shah, as the BJP leader has created an impression of rushing lot of money into the state.
