CM Stalin to inaugurate Alanganallur jallikattu event on January 17

CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate the world-famous jallikattu at Alanganallur on Saturday.

Later, he will inaugurate the manimandapam built in memory of the late freedom fighter Thiyagi Immanuvel Sekaran at Paramakudi.

Stalin will travel from Chennai to Madurai by a chartered flight at 8 am. He is expected to reach Alanganallur at 10.30 am and inaugurate the world-famous jallikattu event.

Subsequently, he will proceed to Paramakudi to inaugurate the Thiyagi Immanuvel Sekaran manimandapam, which has been constructed for Rs 3 crore.

The Chief Minister had announced the construction of the memorial in 2023. Thiyagi Immanuvel Sekaran was born on October 9, 1924, and hailed from Sellur village in Mudukulathur taluk. He participated in the Quit India Movement against British rule and was imprisoned for his role in the freedom struggle.

After completing both programmes, the Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Chennai by 4 pm.
