MUMBAI: Converging at Mumbai’s historic Shivaji Park to mark the culmination of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the leaders of INDIA bloc allies from across the country – except Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee – unleashed a scathing attack on the Centre-ruling BJP and its political mascot Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday.

The mega rally was organised as a show of strength ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, which will be held in seven phases starting April 19.

Addressing the rally as the first speaker, Chief Minister MK Stalin described the electoral bonds as “white collar corruption” of the ruling BJP and said their alliance would form a secular, federal and inclusive government at the Centre.

In his speech, Rahul said, “Our fight against Modi is not on a personal level. Modi is a ‘mask’ who works for a ‘shakti’ (power).” The former Congress president alleged that PM Modi had a “monopoly over corruption”.

NCP’s Sharad Pawar, SS(UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, arrested JMM leader Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, NC leader Farooq Abdulla were among the leaders who spoke.
