Class 12 student found dead in school hostel near Chennai

The deceased was identified as P Sarala. Police sources said that the girl is a native of Tekkalur near Tiruttani.

CHENNAI: A Class 12 student was found hanging in the hostel room of Sacred Hearts Girls Higher Secondary School, a government-aided institution in Kilachery, Tiruvallur district, 50 kms from Chennai, on Monday.

Police sources said that she was a native of Tekkalur near Tiruttani.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the girl was seen alive by her friends on Monday morning. Reason for her suicide is not known yet.

Police have secured the girl’s body and sent it to government hospital in Tiruvallur for postmortem examination. Further investigations are on.

Parents and relatives of the girl staged a road blockade on Monday morning.

Police force has been deployed at the government hospital and near the school to prevent any untoward incidents, particularly after the violence that followed the death of a girl in a school hostel in Kallakurichi last Sunday. Senior police officers, including Tiruvallur district Superintendent of Police PC Kalyan, are on the spot.
