Case against 4 for trafficking migrant woman

Police registered a case against four persons for pushing a girl from West Bengal into flesh trade for over four months and a search is on for the culprits. The girl came to Thanjavur from Bengaluru to work as housemaid, but was trafficked.

The Vallam AWPS Inspector Kalaivani conducted a probe with the 20-year-old Bengali girl rescued by AIDWA members from the Sengipatti Highway and has been undergoing treatment in Thanjavur Medical College.

Police said that when the girl reached Tiruchy bus stand from Bengaluru, she was approached by one Senthil Kumar (44) from Melavasthavadi in Thanjavur. He took her in a car to his house.

There, she was shocked know that she has been lodged in a brothel and Senthil Kumar was an agent. It is said, Senthil Kumar sexually assaulted the girl and later forced her into flesh trade.

The girl attempted to escape from the house, but was tortured and threatened. They also branded her with hot iron rods. As she persisted in her protests, the gang led by Senthil Kumar took her in a car and abandoned her on the road.
