TIRUCHY: Asserting that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has forged the strongest possible alliance in Tamil Nadu to face the upcoming Assembly polls, Municipal Administration Minister and party's principal secretary KN Nehru claimed on Thursday that the party cadres are committed to ensuring a grand victory for candidates chosen by Chief Minister and party president MK Stalin.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Srirangam bus stand, Nehru said the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) was intact, and cadres had been asked to begin poll preparations across the State. “The Chief Minister alone will decide the candidates, and the cadres will work for whoever is chosen and ensure their victory,” he said.

Dismissing corruption allegations levelled by opposition parties, Nehru said such charges were routine in the run-up to elections and asserted that the DMK was prepared to face and overcome them.

The minister also said talks had been initiated to resolve issues raised by protesting cleanliness workers.

Referring to the infrastructure project, Nehru said the long-pending demand of residents for a bus stand in Srirangam had been fulfilled. The facility, constructed opposite the Srirangam Government Hospital at a cost of Rs 11.10 crore, was taken up in 2023–24 and would emerge as another iconic spot in the city, the minister said.
