Tahsildar Padmanabhan boarded the bus at Tirupattur en route to his home at Ambur on a day’s permission. The bus which started early from Hosur was full of passengers even at Tirupattur. The shocked official, found people standing close and accosted the conductor for allowing overcrowding in the vehicle which may lead to a spike in COVID-19 infections.

A heated argument ensued between the conductor and Padmanabhan, with the former being unrelenting despite the official revealing his position as a Tahsildar. What irked Padmanabhan most was that passengers started heckling him, specially when he warned the conductor of a fine. When the bus reached Ambur, Padmanabhan pulled out the official fine register from his vehicle which was waiting there to pick him up and wrote a fine for Rs 500.

Meanwhile, the crew realising that they were in trouble called their superiors. But, Padmanabhan refused to oblige any request and so the bus left Ambur after the conductor paid the fine.
