Body of Ramnad man killed in Kuwait brought home, cremated

RAMANATHAPURAM: The body of Santhana Selvam, 36, who was killed in an Iran attack in Kuwait, was brought to his native village near Mudukulathur and cremated.

He died on March 30 while working at a seawater desalination plant in Kuwait.

Following a request by his wife Kausalya, 30, who approached the Ramanathapuram district collector seeking repatriation, the Centre and State governments facilitated the return of the body with assistance from the Indian Embassy.

The body was flown to Kochi in Kerala and later brought to Tiruchy airport before being transported by ambulance to Anikurunthan village.

Family members and relatives paid their last respects before the cremation.

He is survived by his wife, son Jaswin, 7, and daughter Sai Yuvanya, 3.
