Residents of Tirumazhisai near Vellavedu were shocked to find a dead body floating on the lake in their neighbourhood on Wednesday morning.

Following this, the village head alerted the Vellavedu police who rushed to the scene and took possession of the body.

“There are no details to establish the person’s identity yet. We are also investigating the cause of death,” police said.

The police have sent the body to Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
