Body caught in train engine dragged for 4 km

The driver stopped the train and with the help of railway officials tried to disentangle the body.

VELLORE: Passengers waiting for the Mangaluru express screamed when the express train entered Katpadi station with a body caught in the engine’s cowcatcher in the early hours of Sunday.

The train was nearing Katpadi when a 30-year-old male was hit by the train and his body got entangled in the engine’s cowcatcher at Sevur. The driver stopped the train and with the help of railway officials tried to disentangle the body.However, as it was totally dark, railway officials were unable to remove the body and so the train made its way to Katpadi railway station 4 kilometres away with the body entangled in the cowcatcher. On seeing this, passengers were frightened and started screaming till railway officials managed to retrieve the body which was then sent to the Vellore government medical college hospital for post-mortem while railway police started investigations. The train left after a delay of 20 minutes.
