CHENNAI: O Panneerselvam (OPS) camp MLA from Alangulam, PH Manoj Pandian, on Tuesday joined the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister and party president MK Stalin, frustrated by the bleak political fortunes.

Sources told DT Next that the legislator was given assurance of a ticket from the Alangulam constituency.

He has tendered his resignation as MLA, which the Speaker, Appavu, has accepted. Manoj Pandian said he continues to hold respect for OPS and informed him of the decision. "But to serve the people effectively, one needs a strong political platform. The DMK stands as a people-centric movement committed to protecting Dravidian ideals."

OPS has now left only two MLAS in his camp, R Vaithilingam and P Ayyappan. Sources say that Vaithilingam, too, is in advanced discussions with the DMK to switch sides.
