BJP names functionaries in charge of civic polls

Former union minister and senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan, who was recently appointed leader in-charge for coordinating election-related events in Tamil Nadu, on Friday named party functionaries for the two phase local bodies polls scheduled to be held on December 27 and 30.

The BJP sources said the functionaries appointed by him have been authorised to announce party candidates for the upcoming local body polls in the state.

Since the BJP was yet to appoint a successor to former state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan after her elevation as Telangana Governor, Radhakrishnan was appointed state unit leader in-charge for coordinating election-related events.
