“The ground next to Kamarajar Hall was donated by late chief minister K Kamaraj. But now, an agreement has been signed with a Mumbai-based construction company. The Income Tax (I-T) department should investigate the issue,” said BJP state president L Murugan, who also asked the TNCC to release a white paper on the matter.
The BJP and Congress have been involved in war of words over the issue for the past two days. TNCC president KS Alagiri denied the charges, adding that steps were taken to appropriate the properties of TNCC estimated to be worth Rs 15 crore.
Joining the issue, RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy raised serious charges against TNCC, accusing it of misappropriating the party properties.
“TNCC Trust: Is Congress party paying market rent (even rent) for Sathyamurthy Bhavan? Bhavan belongs to TNCC Trust, which is not for Congress but for poor, education, etc. It is a 20 ground property. For building alone rent will be 100/ft several lakhs per month,” Gurumurthy posted on social media on Sunday.
According to him, he has learnt from reliable quarters that the State unit of the Congress does not pay rent to TNCC Trust, which owns the Sathyamurthy Bhavan. “It (not paying rent) is a breach of trust. The Trust will lose tax exemption,” Gurumurthy alleged in another tweet.
Referring to the bylaws of TNCC Trust, Gurumurthy said the power to appoint trustees for TNCC Trust rests only with TNCC, and the national leadership does not have any role in such appointments. He added that he would produce more documents to expose what he termed as TNCC’s mishandlings on Monday.
