BC/MBCs can avail subsidy for setting up readymade garment units

The government has issued an order to form a group of 10 people from the above castes and set up a readymade garment production units at the cost of Rs 3 lakh each.

CHENGALPATTU: In an effort to economically uplift the lives of the backward, the most backward people in Chengalpattu district, the state government has come forward to provide subsidy to set up readymade garment manufacturing units.

Following this, Collector Rahulnath has called for those interested to apply for the same at the office of the backward and minority welfare located at the Collectorate. The government has issued an order to form a group of 10 people from the above castes and set up a readymade garment production units at the cost of Rs 3 lakh each. “Those who want to benefit from this scheme should form a group of 10 people with a minimum age of 20 years. The members should have tailoring experience and an annual income not exceeding Rs 1 lakh,” said Rahulnath.

He also added that preference would be given to those trained by the micro, small and medium industries department and also widows, abandoned and destitute women.
