TIRUCHY: A youth who kidnapped and sexually abused a Class 12 girl was arrested under Pocso Act in Ariyalur late on Tuesday. V Praveen (20), a construction coolie from Gundavali village near Jayankondam was in love with a Class 12 girl from the same locality.

Praveen who approached the girl recently forcibly took her to Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore district and had reportedly sexually assaulted her.

The girl, on her return to her house, narrated the incident to her parents and they lodged a complaint with Jayankondam All Women Police. The police registered a case against Praveen under various sections, including the Pocso Act and arrested Praveen late on Tuesday night.
