COIMBATORE: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asserted that the legislation that failed in Parliament would be passed again under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realise the aspirations of people.

Addressing an election campaign rally after a road show in Modakurichi in Erode, Shah said the NDA government had made efforts to increase the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu by 50 per cent.

“With a narrow mindset and vested interests, the DMK and Congress blocked the proposal. We will not accept their conspiracy, and I assure you that the Bill will be passed to fulfill the people’s aspirations,” he said.

Shah also criticised the DMK-Congress alliance over the delay in passing the Women’s Reservation Bill, which aims to increase women’s representation in legislatures. “I assure that definitely this Bill would be passed for the benefit of people in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
