All anganwadis to get own buildings: Geetha Jeevan

Social Welfare Minister P Geetha Jeevan on Monday said that the state government will construct own buildings for all the 54,439 anganwadis in the state.

CHENNAI: Replying to a question posed by Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader T Velmurugan, Geetha Jeevan said that out of total 54,439 anganwadis functioning in the state 7,441 are functioning in private rented buildings and state government will construct its own buildings for all the anganwadis, soon.

“We have held talks with the Rural Development Minister and the Department Secretary and the works to construct our own buildings for anganwadis are underway,” said Geetha Jeevan.

Earlier, Velmurugan raised the issue of safety of children studying in anganwadis functioning in rented buildings.
