As per schedule, the Chief Minister convened a meeting and reviewed progress in containing the spread of COVID. The MLAs, who belong to DMK and Congress, including S Austin (Kanniyakumari), N Suresh Rajan (Nagercoil), J Prince (Colachel), T Mano Thangaraj (Padmanabhapuram), S Vijayadharani (Vilavancode) and S Rajesh Kumar (Killiyoor) have already made their mind to abstain from attending the programme as their demands to meet the Chief Minister ahead of the scheduled event was not granted.

At a joint press conference convened at Nagercoil on Monday, the MLAs claimed that they met Kanniyakumari Collector earlier and sought permission to meet the Chief Minister. However, the Collector asked the MLAs to attend the programme and denied permission to meet the CM in person. Not satisfied with the response, they abstained.
