AIU sleuths seize 2 kg gold from three passengers at Tiruchy airport

The AIU sleuths from Tiruchy seized more than 2 kg of gold worth Rs 1.09 crore on Saturday and secured four persons in this regard.

It is said, on a tip off that a huge quantity of gold being smuggled to Tiruchy, the AIU sleuths had accelerated passenger checking of a flight bound from Singapore on Saturday and seized 152 gram gold from a passenger identified as Suresh from Cuddalore. He was concealing the yellow metal in the pocket of his trousers. Earlier, the officials seized 1.12 kg gold from Mohammed Saddiq bound from Dubai and he was also carrying the gold concealing it in his pants pocket. Similarly, the officials seized 896 gram gold from Mohammed Ziaudeen Sahib of Thanjavur who was also returning from Dubai. The total seizure was 2.176 kg worth Rs 1.09 crore. The officials secured all the three passengers and are investigating.
