AICTE issues fresh guidelines for running diploma courses for working professionals

CHENNAI: The All India Institute of Technical Education (AICTE) has issued fresh guidelines for running diploma courses for working professionals.

The council, in its circular to the director of Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), said that professionals working in registered industry or organization (central / state) and other companies located within 50Km radial distance from the institute will be eligible for joining the courses.

Accordingly, the working professionals, who wish to pursue the diploma courses, should possess a minimum one year full time and regular working experience.

The AICTE said that timings for conduct of classes should be in the evening hours or any flexible convenient timings in alignment with timings of the organisation.

If the working professionals want to pursue National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), aligned courses at appropriate level should also be considered and given the weightage and credits, it said.

The AICTE said that existing staff in the colleges are permitted with additional remuneration as per the state government norms for taking classes to the working professionals.
