CHENNAI: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami denounced the ruling DMK government for not making any announcement regarding the free laptop scheme ahead of the new academic year.

Palaniswami took to social media on Sunday and posted a statement that the students of government and aided schools were looking forward to the free laptops. He wondered whether MK Stalin's government would come forward to fulfill the students' expectations or would it give a lame excuse to avoid implementing the scheme that was launched by former CM J Jayalalithaa to improve the educational standard of the students in government and aided schools.

"With the new academic year starting in a few days, there is no announcement from the government regarding the scheme. It is strongly condemnable," he said, claiming that the DMK regime had stalled the scheme immediately after returning to power in 2021.
