AIADMK, first party to release candidates’ list for rural LB polls

The ruling AIADMK on Friday released the first list of candidates for the upcoming rural local body elections to be conducted on December 27 and 30.

The list includes the candidates contesting for district panchayat ward member and panchayat union ward member. After concluding talks with alliance parties on allocation of seats, the AIADMK is the first party to release the complete set of candidates’ list for the local body elections.


1.09 lakh file nominations

According to Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, Friday saw a record number of nominations for the rural local body polls. Nearly, 71,763 nominations were filed which includes 47,243 nominations for village panchayat ward members.


False cases filed,complains TTV

Meanwhile, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran, on Friday, condemned police for filing fake cases on his party candidates and preventing them from filing nominations. “The state government is scared of AMMK and is filing false cases to prevent AMMK workers from working for local body polls. If the state does not stop filing false cases I have to approach the court for legal remedy,” he warned.
