TIRUCHY: After AIADMK was washed out in all eight Assembly constituencies in Thanjavur, three AIADMK council members from Pattukottai municipality joined TVK on Thursday.

The Pattukkottai municipality has 12 members each for DMK and the AIADMK, while TMC and MDMK have one each and seven independent members.

On September 11, 2025, after a difference of opinion with the AIADMK District Secretary Sekar, three AIADMK Council members Kumanan, Surash and Latha Andrews joined DMK in the presence of the Chairperson Shanmugapriya.

Against such a backdrop, Sekar was given an AIADMK ticket for Pattukkottai for the just-completed Assembly polls, but the AIADMK cadre, who were not satisfied with the candidate selection, did not work for him, and so he could finish third in the election.

This had upset the AIADMK members further, and so, on Thursday, three AIADMK members -- Nagalakshmi (Ward 3), Jayaraman (Ward 4) and Nalini (Ward 6) joined TVK in the presence of South District TVK secretary Madhan, and this has reduced the number of AIADMK members in the municipality.
