Adirampattinam fisherman slips from boat while fishing, drowns

While they were fishing five nautical miles off Adirampattinam, Kamatchi accidentally fell into the sea. Since it was dark, the fellow fishers had difficulty in locating Kamatchi.

TIRUCHY: A fisherman, who accidentally fell into sea while fishing, drowned at Adirampattinam on Monday. A group of fishermen- Kamatchi (57), Selva (26), Pakkiaraj (38) and Surya (28), all from Gandhi Nagar in Adirampattinam in Thanjavur ventured into sea around 2.30 am on Monday in a country boat.

While they were fishing five nautical miles off Adirampattinam, Kamatchi accidentally fell into the sea. Since it was dark, the fellow fishers had difficulty in locating Kamatchi. However, after 45 minutes, they located him and rushed back to the shore. As soon as reaching the shore, Kamatchi was rushed to Adirampattinam Government Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Adirampattinam Coastal Security Group personnel registered a case and are investigating.
