CHENNAI: In an appalling incident in Tamil Nadu, hailed as the land of social justice, a shopkeeper in Tenkasi sent back school children and denied to give them eatables citing their caste.
In the video that has sent shockwaves across the State, four school children headed to a shop to buy eatables for them to which the vendor responded that a 'diktat' has been enforced that we shouldn't sell commodities to people from your 'street' (euphemism for caste).
He told the children to inform the same to their parents and advised them not to purchase from him.
The startled children who are too young to understand what 'diktat' stands for left the place puzzled.
The video has been going viral on social media with the shopkeeper being reprimanded for his actions. Further investigation is on.
