CHENNAI: A mild earthquake of magnitude 3.0 struck the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu late Thursday evening on January 29.
The tremors, though brief, caused a momentary panic among residents in the district.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 21:06:57 IST. The epicenter was located at a latitude of 9.44 N and a longitude of 77.71 E, with a shallow focal depth of 10 km.
