9 IPS officers to supervise rescue, relief

Nine senior IPS officers, supervised by ADGP (operation) AK Viswanathan, have been deputed by the State police chief to coordinate relief and rescue works in 12 districts that are in the path of Cyclone Nivar.

A communication from the DGP JK Tripathy said that the officers deputed to each district would supervise the cyclone related works apart from their routine work. IG (Idol Wing) TS Anbu has been asked to look after the works in Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu, while IG (Railways) V Vanitha has been assigned Tiruvallur district.

Relief works in Nagapattinam will be supervised by IG (Central Zone) HM Jayaram and IG (Training) MC Sarangan has made in charge of Tiruchy, Perambalur and Ariyalur. IG (North Zone) P Nagarajan will supervise Cuddalore and IG (Armed Police, Tiruchy) Tamil Chandran in charge of Tiruvarur.

DIG (Training) M Sathya Priya is in charge of Villupuram, while DIG (Social Justice and Human Rights) R Lalitha Lakshmi will be in charge of Pudukkottai and DIG (Headquarters) PK Senthilkumari will look after Thanjavur.
