8 students arrested for ganja sale

The Katpadi police arrested 8 students of leading private university for possessing and selling ganja from a house near the college campus on Monday. The police seized 15 kgs of ganja in the raid.

Based on a tipoff that students were hoarding and selling ganja from a house, a team of police officials rushed to Selvam Nagar near private university. The police surrounded the house from where the students were selling ganja. On seeing the police, four students escaped by climbing over the rear compound wall of the house. However, the police entered the house and arrested 8 students who were present.


The police also seized around 15 kgs of ganja. The arrested were identified as R Sathya (19) of Arcot, Monish (20) of Vasanthapuram, Sheih Siddique (20) of Nellore, Mari Nikkal Reddy (20) of Nalkonda, Dinesh (20) of Chirupalli, Pandi Pushyamithra Sai Balaji (19) Chittoor, Roury Poorna Chandra Sai (20) of Krishna and Murru Barani Raghav (20) of Vizag. All eight were remanded to custody while a search is on for the four other students who are still absconding.
