The total covid cases in Tamil Nadu has risen to 2.79 lakh added with 5,684 fresh cases on Thursday.

Chennai's positive insofar many days has been ligering around just over a thousand, today's tally touching 1,091.

But that number still is a fifth of the total TN cases with the rest of Tamil Nadu registering 4,593 cases.

The total cases in the capital city is 1.06 lakhs.

Fatalities have been over a 100 in recent days. On Thursday the number of deaths is 110 with the total creeping up to 4,571.

As a sign of consolation the number of discharges on Thursday is 6,272 which is slightly over the number of positive cases today. Total recovery rate sums up to 2,21,087.

The active cases still under treatment is 53,486.
