55 sovereign stolen from Cuddalore Collector’s ancestral house

Miscreants broke open the ancestral house of Cuddalore Collector V Anbuselvan in Sethubavachathiram in Thanjavur district and escaped with 55 sovereign jewels and valuables on the wee hours on Saturday.

The ancestral house of Anbuselvan is located at Nadiyam village near Sethubavachathiram and they had employed one Selvam as the watchman of the house.


On Friday, while Selvam was sleeping in front as usual the miscreants jumped into the house from the backside and broke the doors. After entering the room, they took away 55 sovereign jewels and a brand new TV.


After they came out, they pulled down the CCTV camera and dropped it into the water tank.


On Saturday, when Selvam woke up, he was shocked to see the damage of the door and soon, he passed on the information to the family members of Anbuselvan, who came to the house and verified that 55 sovereign gold and the TV had been stolen.


On information, the Pattukkottai DSP Subramanian, Sethubavachathiram Inspector Annadurai rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.


The sniffer dog and finger print experts were also brought for investigation.  The police who registered a case are searching for the culprits.
