COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police have booked five persons in connection with the stabbing of a man and his daughter following a quarrel over her love marriage.

The victim woman, aged 24, from Ukkadam, was married to a youth after falling in love. A few days ago, some youth made unsavoury comments about her marriage while she was visiting her friend’s house.

In a further escalation of the issue, five men, identified by police as Sabeeq, Riyaz, Hari, Fazil and Vetri, visited her house and broke into a quarrel.

Suddenly, they stabbed the woman’s father and assaulted her with a liquor bottle, before fleeing away.

The injured father and daughter were admitted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). The Big Bazaar police have registered a case, and further inquiry is on.
