CHENNAI: City police on Saturday arrested a 35 year old man for the alleged sexual harassment of a four year old girl. The arrested person works as a helper in the private van in which the girl was ferried to school, police sources said.
The victim is a LKG student at a private school in the city and used to travel by a private van every day. On September 20, the girl had complained to her mother about stomach pain. When the parents took her to a hospital for treatment, the doctors there told her family members that the child was sexually harassed.
Subsequently, the parents filed a police complaint and informed the school authorities too. The child was told to jog her memory and explain the events in the past few days after which she spilled the beans on the helper in the van sexually harassing her and touching her inappropriately.
An All Women police Station (AWPS) booked the accused, Sathyaraj under POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offences) act. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
