According to police, Dinesh and Dayalan, both students of the government higher secondary school at Madanur near Ambur and residents of Pattuvaamatti, had a fight in the school. They had to be separated by the teachers, who then sent the boys to their houses.

Dayalan complained about the incident to his father Duraisamy who along with his wife Geetha and two other relatives then went in search of Dinesh.

They assaulted the boy after tying him to an electric pole two days ago. Dinesh was admitted to the Ambur GH, following which his father Uthira Kumar registered a complaint with the Ambur Taluk police.

Police registered a case and arrested the two relatives on Friday. They arrested Duraisamy and Geetha the next day.
