3 school buses gutted in Sunguvarchathram, probe on

CHENNAI: Three buses that belong to a private school in Sunguvarchathram were gutted in a fire that broke out in the wee hours of Tuesday. No casualties reported. The CBSE school in Sunguvarchathram near Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram has about 50 buses which are parked in the school ground. Early on Tuesday morning, one of the buses that was parked on the ground caught fire. In just a few minutes, the fire spread to the other two buses which were parked close to it. Soon, the security guards at the school informed the Fire and Rescue Department and a team from from Sriperumbudur rushed to the spot and doused the fire after fighting for two hours. However, the three buses were gutted by then. Officials from Sunguvarchathram police who visited the spot held inquiries to find out if the fire was because of some electrical problem or whether there was any foul play involved.
