3 hero stones discovered in Tiruvannamalai

Three hero stones, which throw light on the reign of the Cholas, were discovered and studied by a team from the Tiruvannamalai Centre for Historical Research recently, sources said.

The stones were spotted near the Vediappan Temple on Tindivanam Road, based on information provided by the centre’s vice president and Villupuram Government Arts College principal Nedunchezhian.

The third stone contained inscriptions sculpted during the reign of Paranthaka Cholan.
