3 agri coolies killed as sand lorry rams their bike in Orathanadu

While they were entering the Orathanadu bypass, a sand lorry, which was proceeding in the opposite direction, hit their bike in which Murugesan and Ilangovan died on the spot, while Dhanapal was struggling for life.

TIRUCHY: Three persons died in an accident in which a lorry hit a two- wheeler near Orathanadu in Thanjavur on Wednesday. K Murugesan (35), K Ilangovan (45) and M Dhanapal (50), all agricultural coolies from Kovilur were returning home after work on Wednesday evening. They had reportedly consumed alcohol and continued their journey in one bike. While they were entering the Orathanadu bypass, a sand lorry, which was proceeding in the opposite direction, hit their bike in which Murugesan and Ilangovan died on the spot, while Dhanapal was struggling for life. Orathanadu police retrieved the bodies and sent them to Orathanadu GH while the injured Dhanapal was rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. However, Dhanapal also succumbed to injuries despite treatment. Orathanadu police registered a case and are searching for the lorry driver who escaped.
