2 Lorry drivers fatally hit while trying to help injured near Ambur

Police said the accident occurred when the lorry drivers Saravanan (35) and Raja (55) both locals attempted to help Vinod Kumar (30) of Poigai village near Vellore, an auto driver, who was injured when his out of control auto rammed the median and capsized at Udaya Rajapalayam near Ambur early on Sunday.

AMBUR: Two lorry drivers were killed on the spot and three members of the public were injured when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle near Ambur in the early hours of Sunday.

Police said the accident occurred when the lorry drivers Saravanan (35) and Raja (55) both locals attempted to help Vinod Kumar (30) of Poigai village near Vellore, an auto driver, who was injured when his out of control auto rammed the median and capsized at Udaya Rajapalayam near Ambur early on Sunday.

Raja and Saravanan and three others were helping Vinod Kumar when they were hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle resulting in both being killed on the spot and the other three injured.

Ambur taluk police registered a case and sent the two bodies to the Ambur GH.

Police are now checking CCTVs to identify the hit and run vehicle.
