2 killed as car rams into bus in Tirupur

COIMBATORE: Two, including a finance firm owner, were killed in a head-on collision between a government bus and a car in Tirupur.

The deceased, identified by police as Kavin (32), a finance firm owner from Kumarapalayam in Erode, and Merone (23), from Chennimalai, and working in a private firm in Chennai, were returning in a car from Palani, when the mishap happened late at night on Thursday.

As they reached Gandhi Nagar on Kangayam-Erode Road, their car collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus proceeding from Erode to Palani. In the impact of the collision, the front portion of the car was completely damaged, and both its occupants were severely injured.

Soon, the passerby rescued both the victims and rushed them to Kangeyam Government Hospital, where doctors declared Kavin to be dead, while the other youth was taken to a private hospital in Erode. However, he too succumbed to injuries. The Kangeyam police have registered a case, and an inquiry is under way.
