2 killed as bus rams tractor near Veraiyur

A case was registered and investigations are under way

TIRUVANNAMALAI: Two young men died after a tourist bus rammed a tractor near Veraiyur in Tiruvannamalai district on April 4, police said.

The deceased were identified as Kumaraguru (26), son of Jeyasankar, and Manikandan (24), son of Madhiyazhagan, both from Naganayapperiyan area near Udayarpalayam in Ariyalur district.

They were staying in Vanniyanagar for work. Police said the two were travelling in a tractor loaded with jelly from Veraiyur towards Thirukovilur when a tourist bus coming from Tiruvannamalai lost control and hit the vehicle on Kallerikoodu Road.

Both sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Veraiyur police recovered the bodies and sent them to Tiruvannamalai GMCH for postmortem. A case was registered and investigations are under way.
